A PLUCKY pensioner thwarted a burglar after waking in the early hours of the morning to find him in her bedroom.
The 80-year-old woman, who lives in Blackbrook Road, was distubred by a noise at about 1.30am on Wednesday, April 28. She woke up to find a man going through some cupboards and drawers. He told the pensioner to keep quiet but she threatened to set off the alarm and he was forced to flee empty-handed.
She was unable to provide a detailed description of the intruder but said he was tall, spoke with a local accent and wore a long, dark coat.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact St Helens CID office on 0151 777 6876 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
