THIRTY-FOUR junior schools from Leigh, Atherton and Tyldesley will benefit from a new rugby project to be launched on Sunday.
Sports England's Sir Rodney Walker will be in Hilton Park's Mick Martyn Bar, giving details of the scheme with Leigh chief Mick Higgins and Trevor Barton (Wigan Sports Council).
Schools will be taking part in an invasion game activity based on rugby, the project culminating from an unprecedented co-operation between the Union and League games, both amateur and professional, in conjunction with the borough sports council.
SOME 26 Leigh RL fans, aged 11 to 63 and all members of LISA, walked the 14 miles to Bury to watch the Swinton-Leigh match, raising around £1,000 for club funds.
THERE will be a Rugby League Collectors Fair in the Supporters Club lounge at St Helens' Knowsley Road ground on Saturday (11am).
TRIES from Ryan Peters and Tony Dawber, but Leigh Schools RL U11s fell 32-10 to their Wigan rivals. Scott O'Brien hit one goal.
