LEIGH AVENUE ace Neil Anderson suffered the sweet 'n sour of soccer on Monday.
He was outstanding as Avenue won the Sharman Cup, beating New Inn Rangers 3-1.
But, with the last kick of the game, Anderson broke and dislocated his left ankle and was rushed to hospital.
The match was the second of a Leigh & District double header at Atherton Town.
In the first match Higher Fold Village Inn won the Davenport Cup, beating Queens in a 4-3 thriller.
Fold raced clear, Geoff Myers scoring in the opening minute, Stephen Critchley and Stephen Connor adding further goals before Alan Smallman pulled one back.
Queens opened the second half at a cracking pace, drawing level thanks to Peter Jackson and Liam Connelly.
But Higher Fold had one last card to play, and clinched it with a second strike from Connor.
Avenue's Mark Lomas pushed his side ahead with a penalty, John Bailey pulling it back for New Inn with a diving header.
But a solo effort from John Rigby and a goal from sub Craig Faulkner clinched it.
