BLACKBURN Rugby Club are considering legal action in a bid to win promotion to the Thwaites Division North One.

The Ramsgreave Drive outfit's latest appeal over the league's decision to dock them two points was unanimously rejected by the Rugby Football Union on Monday.

And though the club are currently pursuing another right of appeal, they are ready to go to court if that also fails. "We are not going to take this lying down because we believe we were right," blasted coach Steve Kerry. The RFU faxed us on Monday to say the appeal was unanimously rejected.

"We do have another right of appeal and we are going down that road as we speak. I'm not quite sure what form that appeal must take but we are currently investigating it.

"But we will fight on and, if needs be, we will take it to court because we believe we have a case."

Blackburn missed out on promotion after being docked two points for calling their game off against Driffield earlier in the season due to commercial reasons. The match had already been re-arranged twice when the Ramsgreave Drive outfit postponed a third attempt due to lack of time to find sponsorship. An appeal to the league had already been rejected before this latest set-back.
