PENDLE MP Gordon Prentice has called for the flag to be lowered on the ancient title of Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster.
In Parliament, he described the historic Duchy title as "a complete anachronism" which should be abolished.
And speaking later in Pendle, Mr Prentice said: "The Duchy is a bizarre throwback to medieval England.
"It really should feature in history books rather than current political and administrative practice."
