I TAKE great exception to the remarks made by John Blunt (LET, May 26) regarding recipients of incapacity benefit.

The majority who have had to retire early through ill-health have given up a reasonable income and receive little or no pension at all.

Those who do find themselves receiving only about £45 incapacity benefit, not the £60-odd quoted by John Blunt.

This is because anyone with an occupational pension is taxed so that no more than about £45 in benefit is received.
