DETECTIVES are continuing their investigation into a claim that a former council leader may have broken election law by handing out illegal leaflets.
Hyndburn council leader George Slynn's campaign is being investigated by officers from Blackburn CID following a complaint from Independent candidate Adrian Shurmer, who won the Great Harwood seat from him.
But Mr Slynn's agent said the leaflets related to a clean-up scheme jointly run by the council and a local newspaper, and were not election material.
