POLICE have sent out another appeal to the public as they step up their bid to trace a missing East Lancashire woman.

Beatrice Ashbolt has been missing from home for almost two weeks and there hasn't been any sightings of her in the area.

But detectives have not given up hope of tracing the 58-year-old and are renewing appeals for help from the public.

Mrs Ashbolt disappeared on Friday, May 28, and the last person to see the grandmother and mother-of-four was her husband Fred.

Mr Ashbolt waved off his wife when she left the family home in Waverley Road, Knuzden. Mrs Ashbolt had told her husband she was going to visit a friend but she has not been seen since.

Police are concerned for her safety because Mrs Asbolt has a history of depression and had recently been made redundant from Prestige in Burnley. A spokesman for Blackburn CID said: "We are still extremely concerned for Mrs Ashbolt's safety and would like to trace her as soon as possible.

"We would like to hear from any member of the public who may know of her whereabouts as soon as possible. "Obviously this is a very distressing time for her family and friends and they are desperate for any news."

The missing woman is slim, has a pale complexion, blue eyes and light brown hair which is going grey at the sides.

She has glasses and was wearing beige leggings, beige flat shoes, a three-quarter length blue raincoat and was carrying a white shoulder bag.

Anyone with information about Mrs Ashbolt's whereabouts should contact Blackburn CID on 01254 51212.
