EAST Lancashire riders performed well in two open 10-mile time trials held during the past week.
In the midweek Ribble Valley Cycling Racing Club held on the Garstang course, fastest of our local riders was Jonathan Boothman of the Pendle Forest Club in 22mins 23secs followed by Neil Cooper (North Lancs RC) 22.31, Dave Brown (NLRC) 22.36, Jason Bateman (Pendle Forest) 22.40, Peter Haigh (Nelson Wheelers) 23.08, Christopher Boyes (Pendle Forest) 24.42 and Stephen Gill (Clayton Velo) 25.05 with the overall winner of the 60 entrants being Darren Perry of the Preston Wheelers with 21mins 10secs.
On Saturday evening on the Levens course, near Kendal, almost 120 riders rode the Kent Valley 10-mile event where Dave Brown (NLRC) was fastest of our local riders with 21.22, which also gave him the fastest veteran on age standard award.
Michael Ellerton (Clayton Velo) returned 21.36, Jonathan Boothman (Pendle Forest) 21.53, Peter Greenwood (Clayton Velo) 21.56, Martin Smithson (Team Spintech) 22.25, Brian Hickey (NLRC) 22.48, Roger Clarkson (Clayton Velo) 23.33, Bob Jones (NLRC) 23.50 and Bob Greenwood (NLRC) 24.15 with the fastest overall ride on the evening coming from Dave Feely of the Manchester-based Team Lusso in 20mins 18secs.
