GOLF: Kim Andrew lead the qualifiers going into the match-play stages of the British Women's Amateur Championship at Birkdale today.
The Clitheroe player knocked in a 10ft putt at the last yesterday for a birdie four and a second round 73 which gave her a share of top spot in the qualifiers along with Gwladys Nocera and Rebecca Hudson.
Andrew is putting up a strong defence of the title she won at Little Aston last year as she aims to become the first player to win back-to-back championships since Micky Walker nearly three decades ago.
She faced Fame More in the match-play stages this morning.
And an impressive performance at Birkdale will put her in contention for places in the teams for the Vagliano Trophy match against the Continent of Europe in Scotland next month and the five-country Commonwealth Tournament later in the summer.
