NEW College pit-site blueprints have gone before planners.
The 2.2 hectare site, on part of the former Parsonage Colliery in Leigh, has been earmarked for college use.
The Marshall Street campus of Wigan and Leigh College needs upgrading and would have to move if the £240 million Xanadu leisure complex proposals for the site go through.
Outline proposals suggest the new college complex would have a frontage facing Atherleigh Way by-pass with car parking behind. Vehicular access would come from the rear of the site via the service access road.
The Parsonage site is zoned for employment use in borough development plans. But planning chiefs say the proposals will mean employment of significant numbers and the Marshall Street premises need refurbishing.
Planning committee members will visit the Parsonage site.
