A LEIGH installation team has begun a 17 weeks-long, six-figure contract on a Xanadu lookalike snowdome.

Tony Grainey and Steve Stridgeon's CDI (Commercial and Domestic Installations) firm of architectural glazing experts are working at the soaring 160ft Milton Keynes snowdome.

"It's a vast leisure complex, really impressive," partner Tony told The Journal before leaving to put the magic touches to the new town's latest development which mirrors the proposed Leigh wonder world.

And if Leigh's planned Xanadu goes ahead here's one local firm which has the credentials to land another plum contract.

"There won't be many able to put our sort of experience on the tender form," says Tony, looking to future possibilities.

Tony and Steve will be Xana-doing with Steve Gildart, Malc Waterworth and Tony Collier. Another feather in the CDI cap which has overseen big glazing contracts at Blackpool railway station and Wigan Asda.

But meanwhile Tony Grainey isn't worried about the prospects of spending four months working 140 feet in the air in Buckinghamshire.

The former amateur RL player is more concerned about doing a top notch job then getting back to coaching the promising youngsters who did him proud last season in Leigh East under 10s colours.
