A TERRIFIED family came within a few yards of death when a plane crashed on a holiday beach.
Burnley teachers Mike and Susan Howarth and their five-year-old son Simon watched in horror as the light bi-plane "dropped like a stone" from the skies above Crete to crash dive just yards from them on the narrow strip of sand.
