PASSENGERS faced cancellations on Inter City services from London to the north of England as 30 new locomotives stayed out of service.

The Class 90 locos, costing £1 million each, were out of action because of a brake problem.

The locos were built by British Rail Engineering, and the brakes were made by Westinghouse of Chippenham, Wiltshire.
