GLAMOROUS great-granny Ada Gibson showed that it's never too late to pose for a fashion shoot.

The 84-year-old from Clayton-le-Moors has tried her hand at stand-up comedy and singing at talent shows in recent years - and now she's posing for publicity photos.

Ada responded to an appeal for models in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph by Maria Quinn, who manages the Aphrodite clothes store in Oswaldtwistle.

Ada said: "It was absolutely fantastic and one of the happiest days of the year for me. I saw the advert asking for people to be models and thought I'll be the age if someone else will be the beauty!

"I went to the shop in my nightie and I was having my picture taken with another girl, Mandy Pickles, as customers walked in.

"Maria persuaded me to model an oyster satin and lace nightdress, which was lovely.

"I'd done some modelling when I was a lot younger and I loved trying it again. I just went for a bit of fun and I think other people my age should try it. Now I just hope Maria asks me back!"

Maria said: "Ada was in the age group that I thought we would have trouble attracting and she was a wonderful model. She loves nice clothes and underwear and for many years wanted to have a shop of her own.

"I've had more than one hundred calls and photos from ladies of all ages from across East Lancashire and I'll have to narrow the list down."

Maria says she has even had offers from professional photographers to produce a portfolio for the shop and a video company willing to film models.

Anyone who is interested in modelling lingerie, swimwear or nightwear at the shop can call into Aphrodite or ring Maria on 01254 872822.
