I ENJOYED Neil Bramwell's column (LET, August 12) about Alex Ferguson's autobiography.

The way I see it, Alex Ferguson saw the chance to make some money, thought it didn't matter if Brian Kidd was his assistant for 10 years, and decided to make some critical and unrequired comments which could damage Kidd.

Ferguson questions his judgment. This proves that Alex Ferguson is a selfish man. He knew people would buy his book, so he only thought of one person when writing it - himself.

Last season in the Liverpool game, Ferguson's chairman and chief executive said that if Arsenal were to win the championship, referee David Elleray should be given a championship medal. This was very controversial when both of the decisions he complained about were proved correct.

Leonhardsen was pushed by Neville in the box, and as for Denis Irwin's sending off, I cannot understand why he was moaning, because professionals know that if you kick the ball away you get a yellow card.

Because Irwin is an experienced pro, he should have known better than to commit a bookable offence when it was not needed.

I don't know how Ferguson dares to complain to the FA about refereeing decisions, because Manchester United get the vast majority of them anyway.
