IN tandem with our dubious town council it is amusing to note the Lancashire Evening Telegraph appealing for opinions as to why Blackburn of all places, should apply for city status. Its just another pathetic political relations exercise, like the town twinning nonsense.
Of course, the Cathedral - incomplete edifice, without city - also has a vested interest. It will be interesting to see how the response percentage compares with that of the recent abysmal Euro election.
Everyone can give plenty of reasons why Blackburn does not deserve any such qualification - what a dump!
