I WAS intrigued by the report (LET, August 20) that Guide Conservative Club is celebrating its centenary.
I note that its foundation stone, laid by Sir Harry Hornby, is dated 1899.
Consequently, the club must have been founded several years prior to the erection of this building and the actual date of the centenary has long since gone.
