THE biggest source of animal suffering in the EU is undoubtedly food production, through abuse of animals in rearing, transport and in slaughter.
There has to be international agreement to ban live animal exports within the European Community. The welfare of farm animals is a major concern and Britain has not banned all live animal transport. The solution is to transit them as carcasses.
