POLICE were today carrying out a safety blitz on lorries and HGV's travelling through Lancashire.

Lorries were stopped on the M6 and taken to the A59 at Samlesbury for a series of roadside tests.

Police carry out the random checks around twice a year and were looking for dangerous vehicles, drivers working illegally and unsafe loads.
