RAIN brought a halt to many of the weekend's amateur action around the area, as players found themselves in the pub instead of on the park.

Just one game in the Premier Division saw Euxton Villa beat Pageant FC 6-3.

Division One managed two games, with Burscough Richmond drawing 2-2 with New Longton, while Leyland Red Rose lost by the tightest of margins to Fulwood Rangers 4-3.

Division Two West also lost a lot of games to the weather, with just four teams in action.

Four goals from Rimmer helped Crossens to a 5-1 win over Charnock Richard FC 1 while Croston Sports Club beat Town Green 2-1.

In Division Two East, Farington Villa FC remain rooted to the bottom of the table as they lost to Royal Garrison 4-0.

Two games were played in Division Three, the results as follows: Coppull Utd 5, Leyland St Marys 2; Kirkham & Wesham 2, Lostock St Gerards A 0.

The SGL Seat Cars West Lancashire Football league had a more successful weekend, with most, if not all games, being played.

In The Premier Division, Kirkham And Wesham further cemented their place in pole position as they beat Blackrod Town 2-0.

Vickers SC beat Leyland Motors Athletic3-1, and a single goal from Bowman ensured Springfields beat Wyre Villa 1-0.

Preston West End's game in Division One was once again postponed.

They haven't played for a fortnight now, and should have played Hesketh Bank at home. BAC/EE Preston beat Fleetwood Hesketh 2-1.

Most of the teams in the Preston and District Football League play this weekend in the Hollands Amateur Shield, while there is a near full league programme in the lower leagues.
