BLACKBURN striker Andrew Bell - son of former Rovers favourite Norman - has been named in a 20-strong England Under 15 squad for their opening Adidas Victory Shield international against Northern Ireland at York City on Friday (kick-off 8pm).

The local youngster, who represented Blackburn Schools at Under 12s, 13s and 14s, now plays for the Rovers Academy side and he will be joined by fellow Rover Ciaran Donnelly, who attends Warbreck High School, Blackpool, in the international squad.

Meanwhile, Blackburn Under 15s bid to make progress in the Heinz Ketchup Trophy when they take on Blackpool in the second round at Pleasington on Saturday (10.30am).

The local youngsters have been in fine form in the early stages of the season and they made it into the second round with a magnificent 4-2 win against Manchester. Blackburn were trailing 2-0 in that match but they hit back in style with goals coming from Lewis Hamlin (2), Henry Appalloo and Keel Hamilton.

Burnley Under 15s are also hoping to make it into the next round when they travel to meet Oldham at British Aerospace on Saturday (10.30am).

Rossendale, who had a bye in the first round, have a home second round tie against Warrington on Saturday (10.30am). Rossen- dale Under 14s came unstuck, going down 2-0 to Blackpool in their challenge match at Haslingden. The Under 14s travel to take on Chester in the first round of the North West Woodward Trophy on Saturday.

Meanwhile, several local schools feature in the draw for the second round of the Heinz Ketchp Cup.

The ties include: Queen Elizabeth Grammar (Blackburn) v Montgomery (Blackpool), Rhyddings (Oswaldtwistle) v Darwen Moorland, Siddal Moor (Rochdale) v Ribblesdale (Clitheroe).
