ROVERS keeper John Filan admitted he was bitterly disappointed not to keep out Danny Mills' last gasp winner at Elland Road last night.

But the Aussie stopper confessed there was little he could do about it after his defensive wall left him unsighted.

"I was disappointed to concede a goal like that on the night," said Filan, who had earlier made two world class saves to keep Rovers in the game.

"When he stepped up to take it everyone jumped up and it crept under the wall so I only saw it late.

"But the feeling in the team was that Ashley Ward had already been fouled on the halfway line anyway.

"Those are the kind of breaks you need to go your way when you come to play at places like Leeds.

"I thought they were running out of ideas as the game was heading for extra time.

"But we had some young lads in the team and we can take a lot of confidence from this performance.

"We are trying to build something in the League and I think we are on the right track."

Defender Craig Short was also disappointed in the way Leeds snatched victory.

But the former Everton man, who made a brilliant return after a hamstring injury, believed he was lucky to stay on the pitch after his foul on Darren Huckerby led to the winning free kick.

"It was a definite foul," confessed Short.

"I thought when I gave it away it was in a dangerous position.

"But I would have been happy to get away with a yellow because I thought I was going to be sent off."

Meanwhile, Leam Richardson made a promising debut at full back.

And despite the cruel ending, the Leeds-born teenager relished his big day.

"I was gutted about the result but I couldn't have asked for a better debut to play at Leeds in front of my family and friends," said the 19-year-old.
