WELL, Bury Council have done it again!

The first thing they foisted on us were those silly stones at Outwood. Now they have foisted on us some drunken-looking lumps of cast iron at the bottom of Ainsworth Road, Radcliffe.

When are they going to stop wasting money on rubbish that somebody claims as "modern art"?

These nine ugly cast-iron stumps should be pulled up and taken to Bury where they should be placed alongside that other joke, Bury Castle. What an expense that has become, just to uncover a few nondescript buttress stones. I wonder, what is the cost of a JCB on permanent stand-by?

Regarding our bed of nails, I think they would look nicer in Kay Gardens with their rusty orange tops and their bent legs. Why couldn't they have just planted a nice flowering shrub there instead. As a recent correspondent rightly says, we should not criticise all the "good things" which have happened in Radcliffe. Now then, what are they?

Oh yes, we have a by-pass which takes traffic and customers away from the shops; we have a Community Canopy which nobody uses; we have a little car park next to the library which the two nearby pubs mostly use; we have the new Outwood Trail, which people are scared to use because of it being so isolated; and we have a nice new seating area opposite the town hall flats, near the traffic lights, where one can sit and watch the cars revving-up. Then we have our renovated bus station with five small shelters with practically open sides. They look quite neat - but wait until winter arrives!.

Give us back our old Radcliffe Council please.
