By PETER DOHERTY Spend an English week in France FOLK dancers, artists and musicians will be helping to celebrate 40 years of friendship with Bury's twin town of Angouleme.

Four decades of rapport with the French town are being marked later this month when Angouleme holds an "English Week".

A party of 60 will leave Bury by rail and coach to join in the fun and help provide entertainment during the last week of this month.

Sharing the heritage of traditional English folk song and dance will be Alan and Jean Seymour, long-term organisers of Bury Folk Club, who have gathered together a team of ten dancers, clog-steppers and musicians to perform with their French counterparts.

There will also be a concert by a Bury jazz group, local artist Betty Hennis will display her works, and English beer will be on sale in one of the town's pubs.

A twinning reception and dinner, given in Angouleme's historic town hall, will be one of the week's highlights.

The Bury Metro Community Twinning Association will be led by the Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor John Costello and his wife Anne.
