ELEVEN people have been arrested for drugs-related offences following a six-week police operation codenamed Demon.

During the operation, police issued five search warrants and recovered £3,000 worth of drugs including heroin, cocaine and cannabis.

The 11 people arrested have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Police are delighted with the latest results and will be carrying out similar operations leading up to the New Year.

Detective Sergeant Steve Marr said: "We are very pleased with the results from Operation Demon, but we could not have done it without the support of the public.

"Members of the public gave us information which helped us to target these people and I can't stress enough how important that information is to us.

"If there are drug dealers in the borough we need to know about their activities. If you know there are drugs dealers in your area please contact us as soon as possible. All calls will be treated with the strictest confidence."
