THE largest display of combined pre-service and ex-service organisations ever to be staged in St Helens is set to be held on February 26, next year.

Organisations taking part in PX2000, a Millennium celebration, include the Sea Cadet Force, Air Training Corps, Army Cadet Force, the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Army and Airforce Volunteer Reserves, plus several careers units.

There will be static exhibitions and activity displays in Church Square throughout the day while in the Assembly Room at St Helens Town Hall the ex service organisations will be putting on an exhibition of the care and welfare services they provide for retired servicemen and women, a well as unique items of service memorabilia.

In the evening there will be a Grand Charity Concert at Theatre Royal, performed by the band of the Grenadier Guards and starting at 8pm with proceeds going to the Soldiers, Sailors and Airmens Families Association.

Meanwhile, there are still three or four stands available in the town hall and any organisation wishing to be involved in PX2000 can contact the secretrary on 01744 753745, or the RNA Club, Volunteer Street, St Helens.

A general meeting of representatives of all the participating organisations will be held from 2pm on Tuesday, October 19, at the RNA Club.
