ACCRINGTON Stanley went goal-crazy at the Crown Ground on Saturday stunning shell shocked Lincoln United 10-1 to record their biggest ever win.

Star striker Gary Williams scored four and six of his team-mates bagged a goal apiece as the Reds went on the rampage, beating their previous best which was a 9-0 victory over Ashton Town back in 1976.

Player-boss John Coleman, who amazingly didn't feature amongst the scorers, described his side's performance as the best he had seen during his 20 years in non-League football.

But the former Morecambe ace is keeping his feet firmly on the ground as Stanley aim to get up amongst the leaders.

"The football we played on Saturday was breathtaking," said Coleman.

"That's probably the best performance I've been involved in in 20 years in the game.

"We've been saying that someone was due a good hiding off us because of all the chances we've been creating and it finally clicked against Lincoln.

"But we played almost as well as that down at their place on the opening day of the season when we got beat 1-0.

"The most pleasing thing for me was we never let up.

"Anybody watching would have thought we were 8-0 down from the first leg.

"I hope this will give the lads confidence now and the belief that we can score goals.

"But it's only got us three points and we've obviously got to go out and win our next game against Workington tomorrow and that won't be easy."
