BRISTOL City ended an eight-hour wait for a goal when Brian Tinnion eventually found the net against Colchester United on Tuesday night.

However, Colchester managed to bag an equaliser and City were booed off as their winless run extended to five games.

The faltering Robins therefore come to Turf Moor tomorrow desperate for a victory to revive their promotion aspirations.

Manager Tony Pulis has bemoaned the loss of Ade Akinbiyi, who has been a regular on the scoresheet at Wolves since joining the Midlanders for £3 million last month.

And it's obvious where the root of City's problems lie.

Since putting five past hapless Blackpool at the start of September, City have endured four goalless draws at home in league and cup, including a stalemate against Burnley a month ago.

Away from home they have fared little better, their only goals in that run coming at Scunthorpe where they picked up their last three-pointer way back on September 18.

And Clarets defender Dean West is hoping to pile on more misery tomorrow.

"I think they've had four 0-0s at home so they are struggling goals. We've just got to try and keep another clean sheet against them," said West, who has slipped into a consistent spell of form at right-back having found his feet at Turf Moor.

"In the first few games I wasn't happy with my performances and then I started to get into a couple of goalscoring positions, which I like to do, and so I was happier then," he added.

"Now we've gone to a flat back four I'm defending pretty well and supporting Glen down the right-hand side.

"We're getting a bit more of an understanding now we are playing together every week.

"He's very good when he gets the ball to his feet. He can do a lot and I can just sit behind him and watch what he does and just back him up whenever."

Pulis has moved to solve the problem by recruiting former Bristol Rovers striker Peter Beadle from Notts County in a loan deal which could become a permanent switch for £200,000. The City boss is also keen on Birmingham's Dele Adebola and has lodged a number of bids with the First Division club.

But it could be down to Beadle and recent £500,000 signing Steve Jones to try and score the goals against the Clarets.

Jones has hit the target just once since his arrival from Charlton Athletic, while Beadle had a scoreless debut against Colchester in mid-week.

However, the well-travelled striker is confident of producing the goods.

"I think I am coming into a decent part of my career. I know the ins-and-outs and I'm looking forward to scoring goals at this club.

"I have got a ratio of one in three in this division and I'm looking forward to doing even better than that," said the 27-year-old Londoner, who was also interesting Gillingham and former club Rovers.
