THE Hollands Amateur Shield proved a mixed bag for the Preston and District Football League teams this weekend. Leyland Town blasted four unanswered goals past Royal Garrison and Appley Bridge put three past Pennington to win 3-1. Hesketh Bank were beaten 2-0 by top flight Whitbread Samlesbury FC.

THE Premier League was back in action with some high scoring games. Leigh RMI were on the scoreboard with strikes from McKendrie and Hitchen, but Euxton Villa replied with four to take the points. Jackson and Kerrigan earned Longridge Town a draw with Livesey in a tight 2-2 draw.

PRESTON Wanderers crashed to a 5-0 defeat to promotion-chasing Euxton Villa in Division One, while Fulwood Rangers put three past Bretherton to earn a point.

A NINE goal thriller was in order when Crossens played host to Town Green in Division Two West. A hat-trick for Taylor and efforts from Drummond and McGreivey gave Croston the points.

WALTON-le-Dale put on a superb performance against Leyland Town, in Division Two East,crushing the visitors 6-1. O'Connor put in a man-of-the-match performance to score five.

AN average of six goals per game made for interesting results in Division Three. Bretherton sneaked the points from Walmer Bridge in a 6-5 thriller and Leyland St Mary's lost 6-0 to visitors CFC Addlington.
