LYTHAM ST ANNES 1ST XI 2, DISLEY 1ST XI 1

LYTHAM travelled to Manchester to take on a team who had enjoyed recent success against them. LSA started slowly, Disley controlled the mid-field for the first quarter and it was no surprise when they took the lead.

This seemed to wake up LSA and after making a number of tactical changes equalised, Chris Simcock, back from injury, scored after a well worked penalty corner. LSA then enjoyed most of the possession going in at half-time.

The second half was a closely fought affair. However, towards the end of the game Craig Nuttall produced a fine individual effort. He picked the ball up on the centre line, dribbled through a number of players before unleashing a powerful shot from the top of the circle for a well deserved victory.

LSA 2ND XI 3, DIDSBURY NORTHERN 2

LSA started this game very well but had two easy misses. Didsbury broke away and took the lead very much against the run of play. John Pearson, making a welcome return from injury, equalised from a penalty corner, but after poor defensive play LSA fell behind again.

In the second half LSA battled away well, and Chris Isherwood scored after good work from Kevin Jackson. He then scored again this time after fine work by Charles Batho who had another excellent game. LSA BEAVERS XI 0, PRESTON 8

EACH week the LSA Junior teams meet very strong opposition but always come away having tried their hardest and no-one can ask more of them.

Their captain Andy Robinson led by example, playing well in mid-field driving his forwards in attack.

Chris Ashworth played a determined game in midfield. Nick Little also had a good first game.

However, there was little the LSA boys could do against stronger and older opposition.

LYTHAM LADIES 1ST XI 1, BLACKBURN LADIES 2ND XI 3

WITH three key players short against one of the strongest team in the league, Lytham deserve much credit for battling hard and keeping the score down to 0-0 at half-time despite being kept waiting some 20 minutes at the start for three players and an umpire to end a 1st XI game!

Blackburn scored immediately after half-time and then added two more before Ann Preston scored a good goal with a hard shot following a penalty corner.

LYTHAM LADIES 2ND XI 2, GARSTANG 2ND XI 2

LYTHAM dominated play from the beginning despite missing several of their usual squad players through injury and 1st XI calls. However, they worked well putting together many good passes to create goal-scoring opportunities.

All that was missing was that little bit extra determination in the circle. Michelle Sykes scored a superb goal from a penalty corner and then, after excellent play by Lian Atkinson to obtain a corner, Lisa Griffiths on the left wing put Lytham in the lead with a fabulous goal.

Unfortunately just before the close Lytham's defence were caught off guard and Garstang scored the equaliser.
