NORTHERN Leisure, the group which owns Burnley's Genesis nightspot, has bought Rank Entertainment's nightclub business for £150 million.
The deal boosts the Preston-based group's position as Britain's largest nightclub operator.
The deal includes 37 nightclubs, nine "Jumpin Jaks", six Hotshots sports and bowling bars and other leisure facilities including indoor bowling and an ice rink .
Northern took over the former Panama Joe's in Hammerton Street, Burnley, three-and-a-half years ago in a reputed £1.5 million deal. Last year the nightspot was renamed Genesis following a £500,000 refit.
