THE frustration of Preston boss David Moyes was understandable in the press box after the game - we all witnessed his side squander so many chances, writes Tom Parker.

He will take some consolation, however, from the fact that at least chances are being created, but he will look at the two points lost rather than the one won.

North End came at Scunthorpe from the off with Paul McKenna playing in a lovely cross which had the home defence in a panic. In came Sean Gregan with a storming header but Perez saved well.

McKenna continued to be at the heart of the Preston attack, setting up a further three chances which, unfortunatley, went begging.

However, Preston just had to score and they did, five minutes before half-time. Macken had space in the box and his shot beat the diving Perez but was cleared off the line by Holt.

The ball was bobbling about in the box; it dropped back to Macken and his powerful volley hit the back of the net. It took Scunthorpe just two minutes into the second half to get level. Hodges raced into the box on the left, Jackson came across to challenge for the ball, down went the Scunthorpe man in a heap and the referee pointed to the spot.

The ground was hushed as Scunthorpe's big striker Ipoua stepped up for the kick; back came his boot and the ball smashed high into the top corner of the net for a perfect penalty.

Preston hit back with a great cross from Cartwright which looked perfect for Macken, he let the ball run across his body onto his left foot but Fickling got in a fine tackle to clear the danger.

Macken, Alex Mathie, Lee Cartwright and sub Kurt Nogan all had chances but, ultimatley Preston left the game with just one point.
