BLACKPOOL chef Michael Golowicz joined forces with 25 other gastronomic masters in a massive bid to raise funds for children.

But the team made sure it wasn't a case of too many cooks spoiling the broth at the event held last week at Manchester's Granada Studios.

Michael, of the September Brasserie on Queen Street, took part in the Too Many Cooks... Out On The Town event, turning the Baker Street set into a global village of international cuisine for 260 guests.

The event was organised to raise funds for Live Challenge, a registered charity working to support children's projects across the North West.

Michael told the Citizen: "It was a great night and good to be involved, if not a bit pressured on the night.

"The organisers made makeshift kitchens in an area that isn't normally used as a kitchen. "In addition each chef had to share a six-ring stove with two other chefs and we were each cooking for a table of ten.

"So we all had to get on with each other, but I think we managed particularly well."

But this is not the first time Michael, who served up a starter of roast halibut, lobster and langoustines, main course of young grouse and a dessert of white chocolate mouse and autumn berries, has been involved with Live Challenge.

Michael joined a number of chefs last year on a train from Preston to Euston to sell copies of a book in which they all contributed a recipe.

"Live Challenge is certainly a worthy cause, distributing its monies between a number of children's charities.

"Last week's event went without any hitches and from what I saw the guests were having a good time. Hopefully further events can be as successful."
