BRIAN Kidd had been manager at Blackburn Rovers for fewer than 12 months, but some supporters calling for his head helped him lose his job.

What was needed was a sustained period of stability. The present predicament was not of Kidd's making.

The decline in the club's fortunes began the day Kenny Dalglish walked away after failing to strengthen the squad after winning the Premiership title. The rest is history.

Both Ray Harford and Roy Hodgson were given too little time to arrest the decline.

Rovers' fans should look at what has happened to Manchester City in recent years. How many changes of manager did they have before Joe Royle took over?

City were in a similar situation then to that which the Rovers are in now. When Joe Royle was appointed, the club still ended up in the Second Division.

Was he sacked? Where are they now?

I had hoped that Jack Walker - our number one supporter - would have had more patience and common sense than the supporters calling for Kidd to be sacked. A year is not long enough to turn around the club's fortunes.
