BLACKBURN Under -15s are out of the Heinz Ketchup Trophy after going down 1-0 to Blackpool in their second round replay last week.

The local youngsters fought out a goalless draw in their first match a fortnight ago, but Blackpool clinched victory with a Colin Sullivan goal five minutes from time.

Blackpool will now meet Bishop Auckland at home in the third round.

Burnley Under-15s, who have fixed their third round clash against Halton for Saturday, November 20 at Runcorn, slipped to a 3-1 defeat against Leeds in a challenge match last week.

Stewart Corkett gave the West Yorkshire lads a 22nd minute lead, but Burnley were quick to reply equalising through Matthew Henry three minutes later. Leeds restored their lead from the penalty spot five minutes after the break and they added another 13 minutes from time to clinch a 3-1 win.

Blackburn Under-14s opened their Lancashire Schools Wrennal Trophy campaign by holding Rossendale to a 2-2 draw at Pleasington.

Blackburn were quick off the mark and took a fifth minute lead through Andrew Taylor and they quickly added a second 10 minutes later through Mark Bottomley.

But Rossendale hit back to claim a share of the points with two goals just before the break. Rossendale hope for better fortunes when they host Burnley in another group match at Habergham School on Saturday (10am).

Lancashire Under-16s begin their Northern Counties programme against Merseyside at Liverpool Sports Centre tomorrow (kick-off 6pm).

The Under-16s follow that by hosting Greater Manchester at Stanley Park on Wednesday, November 24 (kick -off 7pm).

That leaves them with two group games against Cheshire and West Yorkshire still to arrange.
