WOODLEY SPORTS 1 By ANDY NEILD HAD Bacup stamped their superiority on the game in the first half and taken their chances, the game as a contest would have been over well before the final whistle.

The West View men should have been three goals in front by the break, as it was, they had to settle for a Stuart Farnell goal.

In the 32nd-minute central defender David Betts chased a long ball from the goal-line and sent over a superb cross that found Farnell's head. He rose well above the Woodley defence to score with a powerful header.

Borough were still on top and though they competed fully for every ball, they could not convert their chances.

Woodley got off to a great start in the second period and they drew level in the 46th minute when Paul Buckley was left unmarked at the far post and his shot found the bottom corner.

Both teams were evenly matched but Bacup looked the more likely to be the ones to add to their goal tally, however Karl Stanley and Nicky Taylor were denied.

In the 80th-minute Bacup lost the services of midfielder Mark Rawstron when he was sent off for a second bookable offence.

The home side had to regroup at the back, but they held on for a fully deserved point.
