IN reply to S Hopwood's letter on disabled parking in Burnley, (Letters, November 2), the double yellow lines on roads were put there for a reason.

If orange badge holders are allowed to park there for three hours, I think they could be in danger, especially if they have difficulty in getting out of their cars.

I have never parked in a disabled space and have every sympathy with those needing to do so.

Perhaps the writer could also have some sympathy for the many elderly people, disabled just by age, but with no orange badge.

The disabled have several options for parking - the others none.

To park in Burnley can be a nightmare, either having to walk miles to where you want to go, or pay for the privilege of parking for a short visit.
