DIVISION Two leaders Standen Hall, who seem unstoppable in the Hyndburn League, crushed fellow promotion candidates Rovers 9-1.

Seven games went to the deciding set and captain Don Eastwood and team-mates Steve Thompson and Robert Birch, were the winning trio.

Second-placed Mixed whitewashed Kay Street 10-0. Derek Pilling, Ray Cullen and fast-improving Ian Pickles were the winners. Shahsmen won their first match of the season against SAS with Stuart Bloomer and Peter Grihault unbeaten for the victors. Allspeeds Res, with Suzanne Geldard in full flow, took the honours 7-3 against Raiders for whom John Leech won two matches and Allspeeds captain David Heys notched two victories for the Engineers.

Tek Neek visited Temple and were defeated 8-2. Frank Rowland and Peter Howard had unbeaten records for the winners.

In Division Three, Alan Ormerod tops the merit table with 14 wins out of 15, and this week his team Casuals drew 5-5 against leaders Three Bs. Alan won his matches in straight sets. Third placed Hustlers with a game in hand crushed Brierfield 10-0. Steve Riddiough, Peter Hamer and Saqib Mehrban being the victorious trio. Antley drew with visiting Harelquins 5-5, Danny Chamberlain was the main man for the away side. In Division Four, Baxenden visited DASH and shared the points in a 5-5 draw, Trevor Greenwood took maximum points for the away side. Razor Blades had a similar scoreline against Brierfield for whom Derek Parkinson was unbeaten. Third-placed Slammers took no prisoners in an emphatic 8-2 away win over Springhill. The winning trio were Chris Hodkinson, Steven Holt and Julie Mullen.

In Division One, East Lancs moved up to fifth place with a 10-0 whitewash over luckless Sunnybank. Ian Howarth, Colin Wilson and ageless Roger Sharrp the winning team. East Lancs then visited Haslingden CC and came away with a 6-4 win. Ian was unbeaten on the night for the Blackburn side.

Royal Mail made it four wins out of five with a close 6-4 away success over Old Masters. Newcomer Clive Strettle winning his matches in straight sets for the winners.
