BRUFC CUBS v COLNE & NELSON U-8's

BLACKBURN had most of the possession but failed to make headway against a well organised Colne and Nelson squad. The majority of tries scored from the visiting side were from two very quick and elusive players. Man of the match Luke McVarish scored a hard fought try in the second half with Ben Bridson scoring two tries. The side was captained by Jessica McGurty and a star performance was put in by Billy Roberts who had a try disallowed. Excellent defensive rugby was noted by Ben Yates and William Holden.

BRUFC PANTHERS v COLNE & NELSON U-9's

THIS was a superb demonstration of all round rugby from a side that has won every game so far this season. Bob Fox, squad manager said " I was impressed by both the offensive and defensive skills showed by my team who are in tip-top form at the present time".

Man of the match was Liam Oldham who played well in winning the ball from maul situations. There was an outstanding try spree by captain Gareth Turner who notched up seven tries.

With defence as important as offence Joseph Holden was equally outstanding putting in many first class tackles that helped his team regain possession and dominate the game. Former BRUFC first team captain Alistair Newman has joined the squad a coach and said: "The Under 9's are on the lookout for new players. We will be training next Sunday!"

BLACKBURN TIGERS v

COLNE & NELSON U-10's and 11's

IN A closely-fought contest, all the team players for Blackburn really do deserve mention, however with a squad of 22 players - all of whom played - this would take quite a time!

Blackburn's man of the match was Andrew Clucas who displayed outstanding rugby skills. Fellow player Sam Fox was noted for his quickly maturing approach to the game, and there were quality performances from Edward and Benjamin Rigby - kicking and ball handling - and Craig Salisbury - tackling. Benjamin Roberts and James Caunce were outstanding.

BLACKBURN PUMAS v

COLNE & NELSON U-11's

COLNE and Nelson dominated this game with superb performances put in by two of their key players. Blackburn rallied well with plenty of effort put in by this mixed team of 10's and 11's, of particular note was the performance by captain Richard O'Connor. BLACKBURN U-15's v Leigh RUFC

LEIGH have been traditionally regarded as a very strong under 15's side and were one of only four teams to beat BRUFC last year.

In a superb game, Blackburn dominated a favoured home side winning 22-5. The man of the match award was shared between Mike Dixon and Peter Ashcroft. Try scorers included Johnathon Leach, Richard Dewhurst and Luke Elston.

BLACKBURN COLTS v KEIGHLEY

BLACKBURN'S new Colts side only came to life in the second half of the game with an outstanding team effort. They were well beaten by an established older colts side but should take stock of their two recent games where the second half performances was outstanding.

Colts manager, Lyle Wilson is currently on the lookout for new players aged between 16 to 18 to join his team.
