TWO major East Lancashire employers are taking part in a groundbreaking trade union conference this week.

The conference is being staged by the AEEU in Manchester to look at ways trade unions and employers can work together to build successful companies. Simonstone-based Time Computers and Euravia, of Kelbrook, are among the North West employers taking part in the conference.

It will look at areas including workforce representation, health and safety and pension issues. "I am delighted that so many North West employers have taken the time to come and find out how partnership can help them," said AEEU general secretary Sir Ken Jackson. "Partnership has to be of real benefit to the workforce. That doesn't mean we always agree with the employers, but it means we work to build successful companies that benefit my members."
