HAT-TRICK hero Jonny Andrews was the star of the show as Great Harwood Rovers Under-16s triumphed 7-1 in the Great Harwood derby with Town.

Once Jonathan Williams opened the scoring, things picked up for Rovers, who led 3-0 at half time. Further goals were added by Phil Rushton (2) and Usman Hamed.

It was a story of mixed fortunes for the Under-10s, with the Panthers losing by the odd goal in three to St Joseph's Blue. A spirited second half performance saw them reduce a two-goal half time deficit through another strike from Joe Holden. The Tigers meantime grabbed a deserved 2-0 victory over St Joseph's Red. The two Adams, Wood and Harbour each scored. The Under-11s stormed to their sixth win on the trot, beating Pendle Forest by the comfortable margin of 9-1. Jordan Marsden adding another five goals to his season's tally. Christian Leliuga, Darrel Bailey, Ross Dixon and Danny Johnson also claimed a goal apiece. Meanwhile, the Under-12s overcame Akzo Juniors in the first round of the Cup. Late in the first half they trailed 2-1, but eventually ran out 5-2 winners, having weathered a sustained period of pressure from their opponents at the start of the second half. Man of the match Mark Baron who hammered a hat trick, and Jack Brown, who helped himself to two goals, were well supported by a capable and resolute display by the entire team. A week ago the Under-15s ended Edenfield's 100 per cent league record, but in the reverse fixture, and despite taking an early lead were second best to a very determined opposition, the game ending in a 3-1 defeat with Jamie Palmer scoring Rovers' only goal. To Edenfield's credit, but for some good defending early on, Rovers could have faced a much heavier defeat. The Under-Nines Tigers and Panthers, along with the Under-14s, experienced the disappointment of postponements. No game was scheduled for the Under-13s, who are urgently seeking the services of a goalkeeper, anyone who can help should contact Dave Lewis on 01254 888171 or Ged Bolton on 01254 884933.
