BURNLEY Council bit the bullet and decided to close down the construction and works group with the loss of 54 jobs, 13 more than first feared. Nine white collar staff and 45 manual and craft employees would lose their jobs in the close down. The decision was made at a meeting of the Contract Services Sub-committee.
