I WAS very disturbed to read that Lib Dem MEP Chris Davies supports the formation of a North West Parliament (Citizen, October 28).

The European Union, as part of the Maastricht Treaty, has the United Kingdom split into twelve divisions and has a committee of the regions.

Who elected these representatives and who is aware of these regions?
