MATCH of the week in Division One was undoubtedly the top of the table clash between leaders H&S Plumbers and last season's champions Hyndburn.

After a hard-fought battle, H&S with the super squad of Keith Ward, Keith Jackson and Colin Parkinson - who currently tops the merit table with 15 wins out of 15 - proved they were the creme de la creme by crushing Chris Byrne's team 10-0, widening the gap to 16 points after their fifth flawless victory.

Unbeaten Queen's Park with Michael Moir, Ellie Constantinidi and David Pilkington currently share second place with Hyndburn thanks to a comprehensive 9-1 away victory over luckless H&S Plumbers 2nd, who gained their first point of the season when Mick Howarth capitalised on his chances to beat David in the third set.

In Division Two Fire Brigade A underlined their dominance when they entertained a two-man Queen's Park 3rd at home. Although Nathan Walton's fighting spirit earned him a solitary win over Stuart Padbiry, a great team effort by the firefighters, with Ian Roberts and Vic Young taking maximum points, resulted in a splendid 9-1 victory moving them into second position. Due to a venue problem, H&S Plumbers 3rd rightfully claimed 10 points against Unison 2nd and jump into third place.

In Division Three, former leaders Tek Neek, with Derek Erskine, Mick Wales and J Broadley, ended their unbeaten run after losing 7-3 away to a fast-improving Fire Brigade B.

The clash of the top two teams saw the victorious trio of Jim Earnshaw, Dave Williams and unbeaten Steve Ryan regain top spot with a two-point lead.

Mick Wales was the main man for Tek Neek and his two wins on the night moves him to the top of the merit table with nine victories out of 12 along with Carl Wall for NASH, who also enjoyed a comfortable 8-2 home victory over Queen's Park 4th.

Although Steve Gover put on an impressive performance to win two points for the young stars. The experience of Ian Roscoe, Carl Weall and Howard Dailey paid off to move them into third position.
