FIRMS are being warned over companies selling internet site design services claiming to have official backing.
Business Link East Lancashire and ELTEC have received a number of complaints about firms offering web services and claiming they are backed by the two business support organisations.
They are also claiming they have received official funding to carry out internet projects for local companies.
"These companies are claiming they have attracted European funding and they are also working in partnership with major national organisations," said Phil Burgess, chief executive of Business Link East Lancashire.
"We have not approved such organisations and do not provide funding for them to carry out projects."
