THE trial of a former headteacher of a top Ribble Valley preparatory school was adjourned today because the defence barrister was suffering from flu.

Robert Francis O'Brien, 57, of Fellside Farm, Kemple End, Stonyhurst, who is accused of six counts of indecently assaulting boys under the age of 14, was due before Carlisle Crown Court today.

But the case was adjourned until Monday by Judge Brian Duckworth because defence barrister John Jackson has flu.

The offences allegedly took place at St Mary's Hall preparatory school, the feeder school for Stonyhurst College, four in the early 70s and two between September 1997 and June 1998.
