LOCAL historians in Pendle are already looking ahead to the 22nd century.

Earby and District Local History Society has put together a millennium edition of its newsletter so that people living in the town in 100 years will be able to get a glimpse of life at the start of the 21st Century.

The Earby Chronicles newsletter is 32 pages instead of its normal 12 and features colour as well as black and white photographs of the area, together with articles on the town's history.

Society chairman Bob Abel said: "The aim is that in 100 years time someone will be able to look at our newsletter and get an idea of what life was like."

Members have been given a free copy and the remainder of the 100 copies printed are available to the public. Anyone interested in receiving one can contact Mr Abel on 01282 843850.
