THE winners in East Lancashire's premier green awards will be chosen on Tuesday.
The Lancashire Evening Telegraph's Grimewatch Awards have attracted more than 130 entries from right across the region.
Any kind of project which has helped to improve the East Lancashire environment is eligible for the annual competition, now in its 11th year.
There are categories for schools, businesses, community groups and individuals, as well as for projects which celebrate East Lancashire's heritage and long-term schemes.
Projects entered this year range from small, community-based gardening schemes to major industrial environmental management projects.
Grimewatch is run in conjunction with the Tidy Britain Group, Groundwork, British Aerospace and the Environment Agency.
Representatives from all those organisations will sit on the judging panel, along with Lancashire Evening Telegraph editor and Grimewatch founder Peter Butterfield.
Lancashire County Council and Lancashire Waste Services have sponsored category prizes.
Short-listed entrants will be invited to a ceremony at Darwen Moorland High School in March, to be attended by Home Secretary and Blackburn MP Jack Straw. The winners in each category will be announced at the ceremony.
