GRANDMOTHER Patricia Wilson fell on to the bonnet of a police car after it pulled alongside her and a companion who was helping her to walk.

Blackburn magistrates heard that when the officers tried to help Wilson she became abusive, grabbed hold of some railings and refused to move.

Wilson, 59, of Meadowhead Close, Blackburn, admitted being drunk and disorderly and failing to answer bail.

She was granted a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £30 costs.

Daniel King, defending, said Wilson suffered from anxiety and accepted that on occasions she had been drinking to excess.

"She remembers being arrested and that she had been drinking but apart from that her mind is a blank."
